$8 Pizzas (Thursdays)
Another day, another Pavarotti friendly establishment on Shafto Lane. Don't ask me how to pronounce their name, but The Belasyse is the latest addition to the hustle and bustle of Shafto Lane. It is situated next door to Taka, the well shaded alfresco area being a perfect spot to lunch, even on the hottest Perth day. What caught our attention was the awesome daily specials on offer - whether it be the $2 Taco Tuesdays or Half Price Pizzas ($8) on a Thursday.
There are four pizzas available:
- Pulled pork, sage & apple pearls;
- Pepperoni, basil and pecorino;
- Pumpkin, feta & rocket; and
- Smoked chicken, molasses onions and oregano.
The pizza's are pretty big and substantial enough to satisfy even the largest appetite. Whilst a pizza snob may turn their nose up at these pizzas, we know there is a time and a place (Naples) for pizza snobbery and right now we're not interested in debating that subject matter. The bases were thin and crisp, the ingredients were all quality produce and the flavour combinations worked really well. We would have liked more pulled pork on the pizza , but I think we're being greedy as we left satisfied and full. Full table service is not common amongst Pavarotti priced establishments, so it was a rare treat to receive some exceptionally great service from the team at The Belasyse. Continuing with the coffee culture taking hold of Perth establishments, the coffee was also worth some praise.
They aren't going to win any gongs for the best Pizza in Perth, but at $8 they're still pretty damn tasty and probably the best value pizza in town. We'll definitely be back to the Belasyse, whether it's for a coffee and a spot of breaky, a cheap but tasty lunch or some tapas washed down with a few drinks. It seems like the place has every box ticked and is never closed!
