Verdict: Pavarotti Priced BBQ Meats... do you need to read on?
Tip: Get there early to avoid disappointment
Location: CBD, Trinity Arcade Basement
Here at the Pavarotti we love a pun. We also love some American Style BBQ. With Old Faithful rising their prices slightly, we have a new barbecue option which satisfies our 'lunch for a tenor' mantra.
Located in the basement of the Trinity Arcade, Meat Me In The City doubles up as both a butcher and a lunch bar. Yes, you read correctly, a butcher. They have a range of meats available and have an online store. The lunch bar serves up nice smoky, slow cooked barbecue meats including pulled pork, beef brisket, ham hock and grilled chicken.
They must have been busy on the day of our visit as they had run out of The Mothership - their pulled pork number. We were lucky enough to get the last two 'Ol Smokeys: beef brisket served between fresh bread with a side of pickled mushrooms and coleslaw. The coleslaw was particularly delicious and the addition of fresh fennel took it to another level. The brisket itself was extremely tender and full of flavour. This is definitely dude food that is worth the trip. And the best part? There was less than 5 minutes between the $10 note leaving your hand and a brisket sandwich being in it!
We will definitely be back to sample the other items on the menu. At $9 each you can't really go wrong! Know of any other barbecue in the city? Let us know in the comments below.
