Price: $9.50 (2 Roti Prata & Curry) $4.50 ( Roti Tissue)
Verdict: The best Roti Prata I have eaten in Perth. Worth the trip!
Tip: The Mutton curry is a winner
Location: Morley - Outside the Coventry Square Markets on Walter Road West
After a tip off from a friend, we had to go out to Morley to eat some Roti Prata, made in location at Suzie's Prata House. If it wasn't for the tip off, we probably never would have made the Saturday morning trip as it has been copping a pasting on both Urbanspoon and Yelp. That, however, is a rant for another day.
Having recently returned from eating the some of the best Roti Prata ever in Singapore, I was hoping that Suzie's Prata House would deliver. After wandering around half the Coventry Markets looking for the elusive Prata House, we finally found it. It's actually outside the markets on Walter Road West. It shares the same building as the bubble tea shop Hi Tea. The shop was relatively empty, but I've been told that is because it is the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. Probably a good time to go to avoid the queues!
The menu is vast and it was quite hard to make a decision on what to order. In the end the 2 Plain Prata + Meat Set ($9.50) was the winner. The Prata was absolutely delicious! Crispy, flakey but still a little chewy. Definitely the best Roti Prata I have had in Perth. The mutton curry was also full of flavour and the meat was tender. The standard curry served with the prata was a little watery and disappointing flavour wise.
We couldn't resist sampling the Roti Tissue - a derivative of a standard prata. It is super thin like tissue paper, hence the name. Roti Tissue is super crunchy and has a fine coating of sugar on the inside of the prata, forming a sweet yet savoury taste. While it may not fly with everybody, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Also the presentation of the Roti Tissue is very impressive!
Don't believe Urbanspoon or Yelp, this place serves some quality Roti Prata! We haven't eaten everything on the menu, but we can definitely recommend the Roti Prata. We will definitely be heading back. Our only wish was that it was located in the city!
